In many countries, trucks are primary sources of commercial transportation. We can see on the road many trucks that use fuel-based internal combustion engines that emit a large amount of carbon from their exhaust gases. Now, many companies are making their electric vehicles with net zero emissions, so they are converting fuel-based vehicles into electric trucks .
EV truck and bus company Motiv Power Systems has launched its new Argo series of electric trucks.
Motiv is a long-time EV truck company with over 14 years of experience building fully electric vehicles capable of moving 2-6 ton payloads for industry leaders such as Cintas, Bimbo Bakeries and Purolator. Motiv Power Systems provides commercial battery electric trucks and buses, including charging infrastructure and guidance for commercial fleet deployment.
The Argo Series is de Special Data signed to support all medium-duty applications in Classes 4 through 6, including box trucks, step vans, shuttle buses, refrigerated vehicles, commercial vehicles and more.
The Argo series has two truck models : one is Argo standard and another is Argo L.
Argo has a 158kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that gives this truck a maximum range of up to 241 km with a maximum speed of 110 km/h. This truck also features configurable regenerative braking. It can safely operate with a total weight of 9979 kg or 11793 kg, including payload and truck weight. The Argo can carry up to 15,500 pounds of payload.
The standard Argo is available in five wheelbase options ranging from 4521.2 to 7569.2mm with overall lengths from 6.7m to 11.5m.
The Argo L is the same as the standard Argo model, except it provides a longer range, battery and lower payload capacity. It has a maximum range of up to 321 km and a battery capacity of 237 kWh. It can carry a payload of 6,486 kg, with an overall length starting at 8 m and maxing out at 11.5 m.
The Argo Series features a futuristic, driver-focused cabin built for EV trucks that has improved maneuverability. The driver will sit high for superior visibility and ergonomics compared to conventional cabs. This cabin has excellent thermal performance that surpasses other cabins in both heating and cooling. The cabin is also integrated with active and passive safety features. It provides the driver with best-in-class visibility and entry/exit, adding safety at every turn.
“The market demands a proven solution that allows companies to confidently scale their EV vehicle fleets, which is where Motiv comes in: Argo combines our proven powertrain technology with a new driver-centric cockpit to deliver an unparalleled EV experience.” said Tim Krauskopf , CEO of Motiv Power Systems.
“In California, for example, the Advanced Clean Fleet Rule will go into effect on January 1, 2024, and the state needs approximately 20,000 new zero-emission medium-duty electric vehicles on the road by the end of 2024. The Argo Series will help “to meet the growing demand of many companies expecting an EV solution capable of supporting a wide range of applications.”
Motiv Power Systems' Argo series vehicles are now available for pre-order, with prototypes expected early next year, followed by customer deliveries in late 2024.
